Jandd Grocery Bag Pannier Review – A Great Electric Bike Accessory

Electric bikes are great errand running “vehicles” and they can make zipping around town a lot of fun!

With an electric bike you can forget about traffic jams, circling the block for a parking spot, paying for parking, and spending money on gas.

There are some accessories that make an electric bike more convenient for running errands and the Jandd Grocery Bag Pannier is that type of accessory.  As the name implies it is a bag for getting groceries but it also works well for carrying other errand items and your commuting gear.

After using the Jandd Grocery Bag pannier for several months I have put together this review for you.  Find out if this is an accessory that will make your e-bike that much more useful!

Pros:

Take the pannier into the store:  I like taking the pannier into the store and using it as a bag to collect groceries instead of using a cart.  The bag has an adjustable shoulder strap to make it easy to carry.

By using the bag as a cart, I know how much the pannier will carry and I won’t buy too much!  You can also use 2 bags to carry even more and balance the load when the panniers are installed on the rack.

Use with or without grocery bags:  The Jandd grocery bag is sized perfectly to fit a paper grocery bag.  It also works well with the Chico reusable grocery bags or without a bag at all.  Just take it into the store, load up on groceries, unload at the cash register and then reload and take it  home.

Easy to attach:  The Jandd Grocery Bag Pannier has a hook at the bottom that attaches to the bottom of a bike rack and then hooks at the top that attach to the top of the bike rack.  It is very easy to install and remove because the lower attachment uses an elastic cord.

Make it compact:  The pannier folds up so that when not in use it can be out of the way.  It has snaps that make it easy to fold.

Add a cover: If you are concerned about your groceries or other items bouncing out of the pannier, you can buy an optional cover to keep things secure.

Carry other stuff:  The pannier also works well if you need to carry a small briefcase, lunch bag, thermos, beverages, etc.  So don’t think of it as only a grocery getter!

Sometimes I put my bike Timbuk2 messenger bag in it so I don’t have to carry it on my back.  Then I have the cargo room to put stuff in my messenger bag (while carrying it on my back) and in the Jandd Grocery Bag Pannier if I need to.

Use the top of your rack:  If you have something larger to carry you can still use the top of your rack to carry something with the use of bungie cords.  The Jandd Grocery Bag Pannier won’t get in the way.

Durable:  Jandd panniers are well known for being durable and this grocery bag pannier is no different.  It has solid construction that should endure many miles.

Cons:

There aren’t many cons because the Jandd Grocery Pannier is a great solution for carrying groceries and other items!

The cover:  It would be nice to see a top cover come stock with the Jandd Grocery Bag Pannier instead of it being an option that you pay extra for.  It could be a simple flap with nylon cords that help contain the contents.

Conclusion:

If you are looking for a pannier that makes it easy to pick up groceries and other items around town or transport your commuting gear then you should definitely consider the Jandd Grocery Bag Pannier.  It is pretty simple and durable and it is an accessory that will make your trips around town that much more convenient on an electric bike.
