Rob King, Managing Director of Cambridge, UK based Outspoken Delivery spoke to us about how a London borough council supported them into opening a new branch in London.
Outspoken Delivery was originally a cycle couriers Rob founded in 2005 in the ancient university city of Cambridge.
While the business did well initially, they found that competition was extremely intense so the company moved into ordinary cargo bikes that had 120lb payload capacity, and could be used for last mile deliveries.

Christmas Deliveries by E-bike in London
East London’s Waltham Forest Council are funding a free local delivery service by e-cargo bike or hybrid van paid for by the paid for by the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund.
It looked to be off to a good start, with Road.cc reporting that 300 parcels had initially been delivered in three days.
There are long term plans too, with Councillor Clyde Loakes, commenting: “We will use the results of the trial in Walthamstow to develop our plans for a borough-wide zero emission courier service in [Read more…]
UPS Starts eTrike Deliveries in Portland, OR
Well-known global transport logistics firm UPS has started delivery by electric bike in Portland, Oregon reports Bike Portland.
This is apparently a first for the company in the US and it is initially a testing phase – perhaps no surprise that it has chosen one of the country’s most bike-friendly cities to launch the pilot [Read more…]
HopMod eBike Frame Kit
There are eBike kits that can turn a conventional bike into an eBike and now there is the HopMod eBike specific frame kit.
Former BMX pro and eBike industry veteran Marty Schlesinger adds the HopMod to the Voltage Cycles line up.
The HopMod is available as a frame, frame with eRad mid drive kit, or complete eBike.

It’s August 4, exactly one hundred years since World War 1 started, and I’m in a small Belgian town called Diksmuide.
The ride here was simply beautiful – a (very flat) paved towpath along the Kanaal Ieper – IJzer, lined with trees, passing through idyllic rural scenery.

Bike polo is a lot of fun (I know from personal experience) and using electric bikes would make this high paced game pretty wild!
Haven’t heard of bike polo? Well, it is very similar to traditional horse polo except it is played on bikes. Some people play bike polo on grass fields but there are a lot of folks who play polo on asphalt courts or “hardcourts”.
