Pete has nearly 30 years of experience in the cycling world. At the age of 13 he began riding and racing bikes and working as a bike shop mechanic. He raced mountain bikes for many years, including a few years of racing professionally on the U.S. national cross country mountain bike circuit. Pete’s professional work background includes more than 10 years in the structural and civil engineering field. “Fat” electric bikes were a hit at this year’s Interbike and IZIP presented their E3 Sumo that features 4″+ wide tires with the TransX 350 watt mid drive system.

Following in the new off road electric bike options is the new IZIP E3 Peak DS, a full suspension e-mtb with 120 mm of travel front and rear and the TransX 350 mid drive.

Lapierre Overvolt E-MTB’s & Riding with the Bosch Director [VIDEOS]

The Lapierre Overvolt FS900 full suspension electric mountain bike with Bosch mid drive system.

Lapierre is a French brand that is bringing their Bosch powered full suspension (FS900) and hardtail (HT900) electric mountain bikes to the US market for 2015.

I had a chance to ride the FS900 with Claus Fleischer, the director of the Bosch e-bike division, at the Interbike Outdoor Demo mountain bike trails.

The FS900 did an excellent job of handling the rough trails at Bootleg Canyon and it was a great way to get to know the director of Bosch; on the trails!

Claus said that he is excited about everything e-bike; from the sport style electric road and mountain bikes, to the commuter/touring bikes, to the utilitarian cargo bikes. New Pedego Electric Bikes: Stretch E-Cargo, Boomerang Step Thru, & Ridgerider E-Mtb [VIDEOS & PICS]

For 2015 they are introducing an electric cargo bike, a super e-step thru, and an electric mountain bike.

And that is in addition to new features that they will be adding to their existing line of e-bikes which includes beach cruisers, commuters, a fat bike, and a tandem.

Pedego showed off these new 2015 e-bikes at Interbike in Las Vegas; the largest bicycle trade show in the US.

The ST2 is a very high tech electric bike with smartphone integration and GSM wireless connectivity using it’s OMNI system.

In addition to being on the cutting edge of tech, the ST2 features a HUGE lithium battery with 814 watt hours of capacity. Most bikes have 360 or 400 watt hours.

New Raleigh Electric Bikes with Shimano STEPS Mid Drive System [VIDEO]

For 2015 Raleigh is jumping into the electric bike market!  This is pretty big news because Raleigh is a traditional bicycle brand that has been around for a long time. They must see the future in electric bikes.

Here is a video of the new Raleigh e-bikes (Misceo, Venture, Detour, Tekoa) for the US market, presented by Larry Pizzi at Interbike 2014.  The Misceo is the first bike in the US market to feature the new Shimano STEPS mid drive system:

Zehus Bike+ All-In-One Electric Bike System. No Charging Required?! [VIDEOS]

They contain everything in the hub of the bike. That includes the motor, controller, battery, and everything else!

FlyKly and Copenhagen Wheel (Superpedestrian) are some of the more well-known names in the US.

The Cardio Controlled Falco Fusion Sports E-Bike System [VIDEO]

Falco Fusion Wheel Drive System with Cardio ControlFalco E-Motors has just launched their new Fusion Sports electric bike kit on Kickstarter.

This is a unique kit because it is cardio controlled.

What does that mean? You can set the heart rate range that you want to be exercising in and the Falco Fusion Sports system will vary the amount of assist to make sure you stay in that range. High tech!

Eurobike Electric Bike Picture Gallery

Eurobike is the big international bicycle trade show that happens every year in Friedrichshafen, Germany and it is where a lot of the new electric bikes (and conventional bikes) are revealed.

This year the amount of e-bikes at the show was even more impressive than last year.

The director of Bosch forecasts that e-bikes will eventually make up 50% of the total bicycle market and according to Bike Europe that may occur in 2015!

Electric Bike Touring to Eurobike [VIDEO]

They recently completed an e-bike tour from Zurich, Switzerland to Friedrichshafen, Germany where Eurobike is held.
