The Sea Otter Classic is the big spring kickoff party to the cycling season and it has become the place to launch the latest bikes!
This year there were many new eBikes to be seen and ridden and there was also the 2nd annual Haibike electric mountain bike race epowered by Bosch.
The Sea Otter Classic is a celebration of cycling with racing (road, mountain, cyclocross, eMTB), rides, exhibitors, test rides, music, food & drinks, and more. It is held at the famous Laguna Seca Raceway near Monterey, California.
Below are just some of the new eBikes from BESV, BULLS, Raleigh, Yuba, and Haibike that were at the Sea Otter Classic.

Tern says Bosch-powered folder is a ‘game-changer’
Put together one of the world’s best known makers of folding bikes and one of its best known e-bike systems and you have the just-launched Tern Electron.
Tern claim it is ‘the world’s most compact Bosch-driven electric bike.
It folds in under 10 seconds to the smallest size of any bike in Tern’s lineup, while delivering all the ride quality of a full-sized Bosch ebike.
Bixby and her human (Mike Minnick) have been traveling the US on a Yuba cargo bike to encourage pet adoption and their latest adventure is to beat the current world record for longest electric bike ride with more than 10,000 miles of riding!
They will officially kick off their electric cargo bike adventure at the Sea Otter Classic in April and then make stops at the Palo Alto Electric Bike Expo and possibly the Portland and Denver locations as well.

It’s time for another e-bike news round up!
Electric bike touring and setting world records is becoming a trend these days! I met Bruce MacLeod earlier this year at Eurobike and learned of his adventures to set a long distance world record to ride from Glasgow, Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa.

Raleigh, Haibike, IZIP, and Yuba have all signed on to demo their electric bikes at the 2016 Electric Bike Expo multi city e-bike test track events.
The Expo is a 6 city series that offers free electric bike test rides on a track with a hill structure and various terrain features to allow riders to test a number of different electric bikes.
This group of e-bikes from Raleigh, Haibike, IZIP, and Yuba offer a wide variety of electric bike types for people to test ride: commuter, urban sport, beach cruiser, touring, fat, mountain bike, road bike, and cargo bike.

One of the recent developments in the electric bike and traditional bicycle world has been the cargo or utility bike.
Cargo bikes are designed to carry loads that are larger and heavier than a traditional bicycle can carry like passengers, many bags of groceries, boxes, etc.
