With a high torque Brose mid-drive providing assist up to 28 mph and an integrated 500 Wh lithium frame battery, the Moda has an impressive pedal assist system.

The new 2019 electric bikes keep rolling out!

Some of these bikes were at the Eurobike show and others have rolled out since.

There are some new eBike brands and new drive systems that are making a splash, including a mid drive motor with integrated gear box.

We will be seeing more 2019 eBike models as Interbike (largest North American bike show) approaches in September.

Electric Bike Camping Part 2 – Ride Report

The Plan

I’ve already outlined the planning stage of my e-bike camping trip in terms of equipment in a previous post.

I planned a two night trip from my home through some of the Southern Pennines most testing off-road tracks.

Electric Bike Camping Part 1: Planning, Gear & Other Tips

Why E-Bike Camping?

Traditional (ie not electrically assisted) cycle camping has something of a tough, outdoors image – you’ll be familiar with images of long distance cycle tourers loaded with large amounts of gear, fit and bronzed from many hours in the saddle, crossing deserts or slowly grinding up mountain passes. 

The modern day fashion for bikepacking certainly looks more lightweight – it’s about strapping the very minimum of camping gear directly onto your bike – but it looks likely you’ll still have to be pretty hardy to enjoy the extremely minimal comforts of this style of cycle camping.

But there is third way and that is e-bike camping of course!

An e-bike lets you carry more gear for more comfort and convenience and put in less of the extreme physical effort associated with traditional fully-loaded cycle camping.

Eurobike 2018: New eRoad, eMTB, eCargo, Mid Drives, ABS, & More!

The Eurobike Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany arrived almost two months early in 2018 due to a scheduling change.

For brands, this comes with some reservation however because many are not prepared to show new products yet for the coming year.

Also, Eurobike did not include a consumer day this year, which has been wildly successful and borderline chaotic for the show in the past.

Regardless of the earlier date and lower attendance, Eurobike does no disappoint and in my opinion retains it’s position as the best all-around bike show in the world. 

In recent years, the Eurobike recap showcased the dramatic rise of eBikes as they quickly became over 50% of the show, first in interest and eventually in overall square footage.

The SunPedal Ride at Intersolar San Francisco 2018 [VIDEO]

The SunPedal Ride is a project to raise awareness towards increasing the use of electric mobility and solar energy – a sustainability initiative.

This project was started by Sushil Reddy, who held a Guinness World Record for the longest journey on an electric bike in India in 2016.
