Each year, I spend time at various cycling industry events. Consumer events, industry trade shows, races, seminars, and group rides.
Much of my attention is directed at the different e-bike segments. There are always a few trends that stand out through the year.

By now you’ve heard of the “sharing economy”. Companies like AirBnB, DogVacay, RelayRides and Task Rabbit have introduced millions of people to new solutions of old problems.
Many feel that using the sharing economy enhances their lifestyle and spreads goodwill. In recent years another sharing economy program, Citibike, began in New York City and spawned similar offerings in more large metro areas.

Trek Bicycle is now the official track sponsor of the Electric Bike Expo multi city test track event series!
In addition to being the track sponsor, Trek will also have their new line of electric bikes available for test ride at the Expo events.
Trek joins Bosch as one of major sponsors of the Expo series. Bosch is the presenting sponsor of the series.

The Biomega OKO is one of the latest innovative e-bikes to hit the market with a carbon fiber frame, fork, and integrated carbon fenders!

On October 7, 2015, California Governor Jerry Brown signed A.B. 1096, legislation that clarifies the regulation of electric bicycles in California. This new law means that riding an electric bicycle on bikeways is no longer illegal in California.

As part of their Technical Certification Tour, Bosch will be providing dealer training at all 6 of the 2016 Electric Bike Expo multi city test track events.
Bicycle dealers from around the country are invited to attend any of the Expo events to obtain their Bosch Technical Certification.

Our mobility landscape is changing. No longer is it just the car.
We now have many options that can be combined to get us where we need to go.
Options like walking, skateboards, rollerblades, bikes, kick scooters, mass transit (bus, subway, train, ferry, etc.), car shares (Zip Car, Getaround ), taxi/rideshare (Uber, Lyft), and of course, the new generation of electric mobility.
Electric bikes are a great addition to this new mobility landscape because blending pedal power with electric assist makes riding a bike for transport (and fun!) a viable option for many people. The initial price of an electric bike can hold some people back from buying one but Riide has introduced a new subscription service that could make it easier for more people to own one of their e-bikes.

The Wallerang M.01 is a new Swedish designed and built electric bike that is now available in the U.S.
The M.01 features their Modular Travel System that is a sturdy looking front and rear rack system that easily bolts to the bike frame for carrying cargo for commuting or touring.
The M.01 is also one of the few e-bikes in the U.S. to feature the 250 watt Shimano STePS mid drive with Di2 electronic shifting & Alfine internally geared rear hub.
