JUMP! The Rise of Dockless Electric Bike Share Systems

Dockless e-bike sharing programs are landing in major cities around the US and the rest of the world.

A development from the dockless traditional bike market, they both compete favourably in cost with public transport, and due to their range with private car use in many cases.

The media likes a good bad-news story and due to the stacks of dockless bikes left in major cities, there’s a bit of a hurdle to jump before such schemes become widely accepted – and loved – around the world.

Brooklyn, NY, based Jump Bikes is a development of Social Bikes, a traditional bike sharing scheme that has been running for nearly eight years and now has connections to 40 territories around the world.

Riese & Müller Nevo Electric Bike Review Part 2: Ride & Range Test [VIDEO]

The Riese & Müller Nevo GH NuVinci is a high quality, sturdy, smooth, and comfortable step thru electric bike. 

Its has an easy get on and go step thru design that has a very solid feel with its robust design and central weight distribution. 

A comfortable upright riding position with stable balloon style tires and front and rear suspension provides a very smooth ride.

Riding The Riese & Muller New Charger Around the South Pennines

For the past few weeks I have been riding a Riese & Muller New Charger GH Nuvinci around the sometimes extraordinarily steep and often fascinating hills of the South Pennines.

This particular e-bike and the terrain seemed like a great fit on paper; some ancient packhorse tracks (sometimes with the original 18th century cobbles or flags), lovely old mill villages and some of the steepest hills in the UK could be explored on a bike seemingly made for such rugged terrain in biking comfort.

I had lived near the area for much of my life and every time I’d visited had discovered some interesting new village or track that was not on the tourist map.

So, having moved much nearer the area 12 months ago, I was keen to explore this area of rugged moors and hills lying in a triangle between Hebden Bridge, Penistone and Tintwistle in more depth and to get off the beaten track in the best way possible – by e-bike. eBiking Switzerland & Austria: World Advanced Vehicle Expedition (WAVE) [VIDEO]

The eighth annual World Advanced Vehicle Expedition (WAVE) is due to take place in Switzerland and Austria this summer.

For e-bike riders this promises to be a ride of a lifetime with the opportunity to see some of the most stunning parts of Alpine Europe over two eight-day tours. 

Entrants from all over the world are encouraged to sign up before March 20 this year to be part of it.
