Faraday Bicycles made a splash in the electric bike world a few years ago when they introduced the Porteur.

The Porteur has a classic European style and concealed electric bike components that almost hide the fact that it is an electric bike.

In 2011 the Porteur won the Oregon Manifest People Choice Award for best utility bike.

“Down Goes the Bike Thief!” Bait Bikes with GPS Trackers & Mug Shots on Twitter [VIDEO]

Bike thieves in San Francisco better watch out! The San Francisco Police Department is placing “bait bikes” around the city with GPS trackers. If one of the “bait bikes” is stolen they will track down the thief, bust them, and post the thief’s mug shot on their Twitter news stream and website for a bit of public humiliation!

You have to watch this video from The New York times, it is brilliant. Checkout how quickly they catch a thief!

My idea of a good vacation is to take my bike somewhere different for a month or so and ride, mostly solo, mostly unsupported.

Over the years I’ve taken my bike all over the world, but it’s becoming harder and harder to take a bike on a plane and as I’m an Australian, there’s no viable alternative to flying.

Now that I’ve retired from full-time work I have more time to enjoy bike touring but also less reason to incur the stress involved in flying with a bike, so this time, I left my bike at home and bought a new bike when I arrived in Europe. Survey Says: Electric Bikes Enable More People to Ride Bikes, More Often!

The results are in from a recent electric bike survey: 55% of those surveyed had ridden a traditional bike weekly or daily.  That jumped to 93% after they bought an e-bike!

6% of those surveyed had not ridden a bike as an adult.  With an electric bike, 89% of those now ride daily or weekly!

Electric Bike Touring: 3,300 Miles from Seattle WA to Washington D.C. on a Pedego Interceptor

Cathy Rogers, 57, of Pittsburgh, PA will be riding her Pedego Interceptor electric bike 3,300 miles in The Big Ride Across America!

Cathy and 13 other riders will raise $6,500 each and ride from the Seattle WA area to Washington D.C. in support of the American Lung Association.

The Big Ride Across America will take place from June 16 to August 2, with 40 days of riding and 8 days of rest.
