ABUS Granit Bordo X Plus Lock and ABUS Bordo Big Lock Review
Keeping your electric bike secure is very important. Â U-locks have been the “standard” for tough locks for a while but now there is new option that is more compact and flexible; the ABUS folding locks.
These ABUS folding locks offer the security of a U-lock with the versatility of a chain. Â They can wrap around the bike and parking structure in addition to being folded down to a compact portable size. Â The ABUS folding locks come with a carrying case that attaches to your bike frame.
The bars, the links, as well as supporting elements of the locking system are made of special hardened steel. Â Bars are linked with special rivets. Â The bars are covered with extra soft 2-components coating to prevent damage to the bicycle’s paintwork.
These locks are pretty heavy for their relatively small size but it makes sense because they are doing the job of a typical U-lock. Â They come with a handy carrying case that mounts to your bike via the water bottle mounts or velcro straps.
These locks are not exactly cheap (Granit Bordo X Plus $170 and the Bordo Big is $160) but if you live in an area where bike theft is a problem it is a good idea to have a solid lock. Â Electric bikes generally are higher priced bikes so it is a good idea to invest in a good lock to protect your bike.
ABUS offers many other locks including: U-Locks, cable locks, coil cable locks, frame locks, lock-chain combinations, Steel-o-Flex, etc.

The ABUS Granit Bordi X Plus lock is a very sturdy lock intended to be a main lock that secures your frame to a bike parking structure.
It is not big enough for locking a wheel and frame but you could get an extra cable lock for that.
The Granite Bordo X Plus comes with one key that has a LED light integrated into the key. Â Just push the button on the key and it turns the light on to make unlocking at night that much easier!
Speaking of keys, the Granit Bordo X Plus comes with an ABUS Code Card that makes ordering an additional or replacement key easy.  There are 2 keys provided with the lock.  In addition, multiple locks can be keyed to the same key if desired.
The carrying case is nice because it can be attached to the water bottle bolts on the downtube of most bike frames. Â It also comes with velcro straps that can be used for mounting the carrying case in other areas on the frame.
Overall this is a tough folding lock that can be transported easily on your bike.
