Gocycle is what you get when you cross a McClaren car engineer with an e-bike company. Dissatisfied with clunky urban commuters, Gocycle’s CEO, Richard Thorpe, redesigned the traditional folding e-bike to make it stronger, faster, and lighter than ever before. There is a bit of genial maneuvering around here each time a new Gocycle comes in for review. Our reviewers love to test and evaluate this brand because the bikes are so much fun! Our extensive list of Gocycle e-bike reviews below provides all the details on these chic, urban commuters.
As an e-bike connoisseur, Thorpe wasn’t satisfied with current e-bike geometry, so rather than tinker with a few things, he scratched the whole concept and started over. Gocycle bikes are re-designed from the ground up with a thick, single-bar frame that actuates rider power in the rear with a sleek hub motor up front. The drivetrain is manually powered so no energy is wasted between the rider and the motor. In the front wheel hub, a firm magnesium shell encases the motor which pulls the bike forward. Front traction control prohibits the forward wheel from skidding to maintain a balanced cadence while riding.
Gocycle e-bikes all fold. The sleek G3C and classic S all-arounder both fold up super tight, while the chic GX and GXi are the fast folders (fold or unfold with one hand in under 10 seconds). Either way, all Gocycle models are easy to load onto the subway or train, lift into a car trunk or carry upstairs.
Designed for a European lifestyle, the combination of style and function is valuable for any rider. These bikes are perfect for anyone in a compact living space or those who want a compact urban commuter.
