Like most of you, I turned 16, got a driver’s license, and spent more time on four wheels than two. I got into e-bikes shortly before their boom years back in 2019. From my first ride - when I really saw what an electric motor could do for bikes - I was happily back on two wheels as often as possible! Since joining Electric Bike Report I’ve tested and ridden over 300 different e-bike models, logged thousands of miles of riding, and have had the privilege of riding and working with people from all over the industry. I’ve traveled to tradeshows and expos, corporate headquarters, and local bike shops talking with and learning from passionate people in all corners of the industry. My favorite part of working for EBR is being known as “the e-bike guy” by my neighbors, family, and friends and geeking out and talking about all the cool things in the e-bike world with them!

Ride1Up Vorsa Review | A True Do-It-All?

A multi-purpose powerhouse with loads of customization. The Vorsa has uncommon versatility and showcased an impressive run through our standardized testing.

I once attended a cooking course where a chef taught us essential kitchen techniques and walked us through some recipes. (It was there that I first discovered how cocoa powder and a rack of ribs could create something unexpectedly delightful.) During a Q&A session on kitchen basics, the conversation turned to which knives were worth having at home.

His advice was simple: “There are different knives for good reason, and each one performs best at its intended task. But if you can’t have them all, start with a high-quality chef’s knife—there’s little you can’t do with it.”

Similar logic applies to types of bikes. There are many styles of e-bikes for good reason, but given their cost and space requirements, there’s practicality in finding one that can handle multiple tasks well. That’s exactly what Ride1Up set out to do with its latest creation, the Vorsa.

In our review of the Ride1Up Vorsa, we examined all the ins and outs of the brand’s first “SUV-style” e-bike—one built for commuting, exploring hardpack dirt, and tackling the intense cargo-carrying duties typically reserved for longtails.

From the first ride, it was clear: the Vorsa is a powerhouse. This is one of the fastest Ride1Up bikes I’ve tested, making rides both thrilling and effortless. But what really stood out was its level of control. You can customize a lot—from its top speed and acceleration to its hill-climbing power and even the way it delivers assistance, whether you prefer the natural feel of a torque sensor or the effortless push of cadence sensors.

The Vorsa handles city streets well, with an adjustable stem that helps dial in a comfortable riding position and a narrow handlebar that makes handling feel snappy. Its tires and geometry are also well-suited for exploring milder stretches of off-road terrain. But what makes it truly versatile is its reinforced rear rack, which can support 150 lbs on its own or up to 180lbs with the rack extender. That seriously expands its cargo-hauling potential.

The ride is fun and adaptable to different phases of life or daily demands, though it’s not without a few minor drawbacks. But after collecting all our testing data—and seeing how it outperformed most similar rides we’ve tested in the past few years—those flaws felt negligible.

Juiced Bikes to Return After Purchase by Lectric E-Bikes’ Founders

After months of speculation, Lectric emerges as the buyer of Juiced’s IP and plans to revamp the company

In a surprising development, Lectric e-Bikes co-founders Levi Conlow and Robbie Deziel have announced their acquisition of Juiced Bikes via Juiced’s own YouTube channel.

Juiced’s assets were auctioned in the fall of 2024 to repay creditors, signaling a potential end to the iconic brand that had been in operation since 2009. While the Lectric co-founders submitted the winning bid, it was initially rejected, leaving Juiced’s branding and intellectual property in limbo. The deal was finally closed on March 27, 2025. The new owners have stated their intent to revive the brand while keeping Juiced as a separate company from Lectric, with plans to restructure the Juiced team from the ground up.

Juiced Bikes is widely regarded as a pioneer in e-bike adoption across the United States. The brand made a name for itself with bold designs and high-performance bikes that lived up to the “Juiced” moniker, offering quick acceleration and impressive torque. However, financial struggles ultimately led to its auction.

Meanwhile, Lectric has been one of the most successful e-bike startups in the last decade. The company skyrocketed in popularity with its ever-popular XP series, helping it lead North American e-bike sales in 2023 and 2024. Lectric has remained committed to keeping prices low while offering features that rival more expensive e-bikes.

There’s still much to be sorted out for Juiced in the coming months. The final sale of its intellectual property and branding rights did not include product inventory or warranty parts. Many Juiced customers are still awaiting products they paid for but never received. Conlow has stated Juiced intends to assist the customer base but acknowledges that it will take time.

“As Lectric takes this on, the standard we have for customer service will be the same for Juiced. Over the next 9–12 months, we’ll build out the infrastructure to deliver exceptional customer support,” said Conlow.

As they rebuild Juiced, Conlow and Deziel aim to bring the same ethos that made Lectric successful.

“I want to surprise and shock people in the same way with Juiced—bringing performance and components you don’t expect at amazing price points,” Conlow added.

Denziel made it clear that the two companies will remain separate, but stated there will be exciting opportunities to innovate Juiced’s product line.

Electric Bike Report’s Take

The Juiced brand is iconic in North America, and at a time when many e-bike companies are closing, it’s exciting to see one come back from the brink. We’ve enjoyed testing Juiced e-bikes and have always appreciated their bold aesthetics and thrilling ride characteristics, which add diversity to the e-bike market.

That said, Levi and Robbie have their work cut out for them. There’s a lot to be done to rebuild trust with Juiced’s long-time customer base, which has been built over 15 years. Beyond that, they’ll have to navigate industry challenges like lingering tariff concerns and slowed e-bike adoption.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Juiced, but with Lectric’s leadership, the brand may yet see a resurgence.
