Time for the electric bike news! Some electric bike shops getting attention from their local media, e-bikes hitting the mainstream, engineering students building electric vehicles that get the equivalent of 2500 mpg!, an electric bike rally in North Wales, and more. This is a recap of the e-bike news from the week of April 11, 2011.
Hertz, the rental car company, will start renting electric cars and bikes in London!

Electric bikes going mainstream! The Sanyo and Pedego electric bikes are now in the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog of products.

The World’s First Wireless Ebike to be Showcased at the Canton Fair in Guanzhou, China on April 15, 2011
The University of Alaska Fairbanks engineering students are competing in an Eco-Marathon contest. The contest challenges engineering students to design, build and drive the most eco-friendly cars and bikes.
EBCO electric bikes is sponsoring the Tour de Presteigne, “The World’s Premiere Electric Bike Rally” held in Wales May 7-8. This sounds like a great event with e-bike rides, and other fun activities.
