She jumped into the electric bike industry in Europe nearly 20 years ago when eBikes were just barely a blip on the radar in the European marketplace.

After working through the trials and tribulations of the young industry she set her sights on electric bike adventure tours to show the world what electric bikes are capable of.

With her company Pedelec Adventures, she has had amazing eBike adventures in Morocco, Mongolia, Iceland, many parts of Europe, the Southwestern USA, and a soon to be extensive trip through other parts of Africa.

Women’s Specific eBike Launched by California’s Karmic Bikes

The Karmic Kyoto is being targeted specifically at women and it has just gone live on Kickstarter.

Karmic say “Kyoto is built from the ground up for women and a clean-sheet design—with a price tag as low as $1799 for early backers, a $1000 savings off the $2799 retail price.”

The new Kyoto uses Shimano’s STEPs mid-drive with an 11 speed derailleur system and unusually sized 650 x 38c tyres and is offered in three frame sizes. It also uses the larger recently launched 500Wh STEPS battery mounted to the seat tube of the frame for central weight distribution. [Read more…]

E-Bike Cycle Tourists Named as ‘Haibike Heroes’

As the E-Bike Cycle Tourists have clearly discovered over the past few months, it is amazing what can happen if you persevere at a passion in life for long enough.

Take our ongoing world e-bike long distance ride as a classic case in point.

Not even in our wildest dreams did we ever expect to be still pedalling our Haibike xDuro Trekking e-bikes 15 months and 25,700 kilometres after setting out from London in April, 2015.

Basically the goal was to better the existing world e-bike long distance record of 16,047kms, have a great time exploring mainland Europe and the UK and then head back to Australia after 12 or so months.

On a truly spectacular note, the German team behind Pedelec Adventures has just completed their USA trip after 3,100 miles in the saddle on Haibike S-duro e-bikes.

Their Sand to Snow tour covered National Parks from Yosemite to Death Valley and endured temperatures from 23 to 106°F (-5 to 41°C) degrees C. [Read more…]

Denver Expo Report: New eBikes, Adventure Stories, and the Heat! [VIDEOS]

KTM light electric bikeThe Denver Electric Bike Expo was the hot spot to be for riding the latest electric bikes, winning eBikes, and learning about eBike adventure tours!

And I mean truly mean hot spot because the temps were pushing towards 100 degrees!

Even with that, attendees of the Expo were out riding a wide variety of eBikes on the test track and learning about the bikes from the company reps.

Palo Alto Electric Bike Expo: Tech, Transportation, Adventure, & Fun! [VIDEOS]

elecric bike expo palo alto 8The Palo Alto Electric Bike Expo combined a lot of the unique aspects of the Bay Area like high tech, new forms of transportation, solar charging, adventure, dogs, and fun!

The Expo was held on April 22-24 at the Stanford Shopping Center with close proximity to Stanford University and the Stanford Research Park.

Attendees had a chance to ride over 125 different electric bikes from A2B, BESV, BULLS, Easy Motion, Felt Electric, Focus, Gazelle, Haibike, IZIP, Kalkhoff, KTM, Raleigh, Stromer, Tempo, Trek, Vintage, Xtracycle, and Yuba.
